Common travel questions
Our in-depth planning process sets us apart, and we take significant time and care at every stage.
Once you contact us, we'll connect you with one of our Destination Specialists. Since all our trips are entirely personalized, your specialist will arrange a brief call to get to know you better. This step is crucial to our process because our itineraries are uniquely crafted around your personality, travel style, and interests— the more we learn about you, the better we can tailor your trip. After the call, your specialist will sift through options to create a customized draft itinerary. Then, we'll work together to refine it, ensuring it perfectly aligns with your expectations.
We'll finalize the trip once we receive your deposit and lock in your accommodations and permits. We take care of every detail to ensure your journey feels effortless. Our in-destination travel concierge will stay in touch throughout your adventure, so support is always just a quick message away.
Whether it's a special family reunion, an unforgettable getaway with friends, or a remote retreat to celebrate your Team, we can craft a bespoke trip tailored to your group's needs. However, if you're looking to join an existing group trip, like a safari with fellow solo travelers, we suggest exploring other options since we don't arrange set-departure group trips.
While some travel companies incorporate tipping into their itinerary costs, we believe tipping should always be at your discretion, based on your experience. We provide comprehensive tipping guidelines for each destination and lodge ahead of your travels so you'll be prepared for any situation. If tipping is part of your overall trip budget, please let us know during the planning phase, as it can sometimes represent a considerable expense.
When you plan your trip with us, there's no booking fee. However, we may ask for a small planning fee, which will be fully applied to your trip cost.
We recommend planning your trip as early as possible. As a general guideline, try to begin at least a year in advance if you're aiming to travel during the summer or Christmas. Our preferred accommodations can fill up quickly since we work with select small camps, lodges, and hotels. Once you've settled on a destination, we'll be ready to get to work!
Once you're satisfied with your itinerary and ready to finalize your travel plans, we'll ask for a deposit and full payment for any services that need to be secured immediately. This includes things like internal flights or special permits. The remaining balance is usually due 90 days before your departure. In some exceptional cases—for instance, if you're traveling during the Festive period—we may need to collect the balance a bit earlier. We recommend that you obtain comprehensive travel insurance when booking your trip. Life can throw surprises your way, and if something prevents you from traveling, insurance is your best safeguard for your investment.
We've witnessed countless instances where travel insurance has saved the day, so we strongly suggest you secure a comprehensive policy before your journey. At a minimum, we require all clients to have medical evacuation insurance before travel.
If one of our example itineraries catches your eye and feels like your ideal trip, we'd happily arrange it for you. These itineraries serve as inspirational starting points rather than fixed plans. Each journey we offer is custom-made based on your interests, preferences, and dreams.
We love to mix and match various travel styles and accommodations to create an exceptional experience. Just keep in mind that the options in our example itineraries are always subject to availability and may vary in rates depending on travel periods and other factors.
Many of our destinations are pretty adventurous and require a good fitness level. We expect all travelers to be healthy since enjoying your adventure is essential. Our trips can be tailored to most age and fitness profiles, but it's vital to communicate any limitations or concerns during the planning stage.
If anyone in your group has mobility issues or struggles with uneven surfaces or stairs, please let us know—that information is crucial for selecting suitable destinations and accommodations. Additionally, if you have a bad back or have difficulty sitting for long periods, we should consider that while planning your trip.
