Tarangire National Park

Tarangire National Park is a stunning destination with rolling grasslands and majestic baobab trees. The park truly shines during the dry season from June to December, when numerous migratory wildlife species flock back to the Tarangire River for water.

While it’s famous for its large herds of elephants, Tarangire is also home to a diverse array of wildlife, including lions, leopards, wildebeests, zebras, hippopotamuses, and other plains game, as well as over 300 bird species. The green season, running from January to May, offers a lovely experience with fewer crowds; however, the herd sizes tend to dwindle, and visitors might find the number of tsetse flies a bit bothersome.

As the first stop on the iconic northern circuit, Tarangire is followed by Lake Manyara, the Ngorongoro Crater, and the Serengeti. Tarangire provides a more affordable option for those on shorter itineraries that can’t fit in both than the Serengeti, although the latter is renowned for superior game viewing. In Tarangire, visitors can enjoy various activities, including day and night game drives, birdwatching, bush walks, and meaningful cultural exchanges.
